Webcam Setup

Configure your webcam, adjust camera settings, and optimize image quality for scanning.


Granting Camera Permissions

First-time setup:

  1. Browser will prompt for camera access
  2. Click "Allow" to grant permissions
  3. If denied, check browser settings and re-enable
  4. On Chrome: Click lock icon in address bar → Site settings → Camera → Allow
  5. On Firefox: Click lock icon → Permissions → Camera → Allow
  6. On Safari: Safari → Preferences → Websites → Camera → Allow

Selecting Camera

If you have multiple cameras:

  • System automatically selects default camera
  • Switch cameras via browser settings if needed
  • Use device manager to enable/disable cameras
  • External USB cameras may need drivers installed
  • Ensure camera is not in use by another application

Camera Positioning

Optimal camera setup:

  • Distance: Position camera 12-18 inches from cards
  • Angle: Camera should be perpendicular to card surface
  • Lighting: Use bright, even lighting (avoid shadows and glare)
  • Background: Use plain, contrasting background
  • Stability: Mount camera or use stable surface
  • Focus: Ensure camera is in focus

Adjusting Camera Settings

Optimize camera for scanning:

  • Resolution: Use highest available resolution
  • Brightness: Adjust for clear card visibility
  • Contrast: Increase contrast for better recognition
  • White Balance: Set for accurate color representation
  • Focus: Use autofocus or manual focus if available
  • Exposure: Avoid overexposure or underexposure

Testing Camera

Before scanning:

  1. Verify camera feed appears in preview
  2. Test with a sample card
  3. Check that card is clearly visible
  4. Ensure card fills most of the frame
  5. Verify no glare or reflections
  6. Test recognition with a known card
